Hopper cars of models 19-6869 and 19-6870 are designed for transportation of grain and other bulk food cargoes along the entire network of 1520 mm railways of the CIS countries, Georgia, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Estonia and Finland as part of freight trains.
The design of the car provides its operation in the conditions determined by climatic performance "UHL", placement category 1 according to GOST 15150 with ensuring operational reliability in the range of air temperatures from minus 60 to plus 50 C.

The hopper car contains undercarriages, a body, the bunker with unloading hatches, the unloading mechanism, brake system and the autocoupling device. The body consists of a frame, two side walls and a roof with loading hatches, made of curved shape. End walls and transoms connecting the end walls with the roof, made as part of cylindrical shells with a radius of R from 3700 to 13000 mm Inside the body are diaphragms connecting the frame, side walls, roof with loading hatches and hopper with unloading hatches. On a body, for reinforcement of a console part of a frame, the racks connecting transoms and a frame are established. The racks are symmetrical about the longitudinal plane of the body. The use in the design of the hopper end wall and transom as parts of cylindrical shells allows to simplify and facilitate the design of the body while increasing the load capacity of the hopper car, while providing a given strength
